The Leeds Youth Jazz Rock Orchestra (LYJRO), run by ArtForms, visited Durban
in 2007. They performed and hosted workshops at the Ekhaya centre. Moved by
the centre's lack of musical instruments, LYJRO spent the following year fund-raising,
through concerts, to send instruments for Ekhaya. Ekhaya have just received
from us 6 trumpets and 6 trombones.
LYJRO are already planning a further visit to Durban in 2010 where we hope
to facilitate workshops with Ekhaya and take saxophones to add to their band.
